Celebrating Canada Day
Canad Inns was proud to once again host Manitoba’s largest family friendly Canada Day celebration with the help of our generous sponsors. By Manitobans – For Manitobans – 17th Year
Canad Inns Family Fun Day is our Gift to You.
Canad Inns is proudly Manitoba owned & operated, and our annual Canada Day celebration at Assiniboine Park is one of the many ways we Give Back to our community.
Assiniboine Park holds a very special place in the heart of our Founder and Executive Chair, Leo Ledohowski. To pay tribute to what Assiniboine Park means to him and to say Thank You to Manitobans who have supported Canad Inns, Leo wanted to show his appreciation and give back to the community, by re-establishing Assiniboine Park as a place that families could come together and celebrate. Canad Inns Family Fun Day is Canad Inns’ annual thank-you to Manitobans.
Hundreds of members of the Canad Inns family come together to plan, organize, volunteer and host these family celebrations on July 1st.
Canad Inns Family Fun Day was a daylong event and a wonderful occasion for Manitobans to gather and celebrate our nation’s birthday.
This year was a special year as we celebrated Canada 150. There were many activities for children and families, special Canada 150 activities and amazing Manitoba talent performing on the Lyric Theatre Stage. They day concluded with the biggest and most spectacular fireworks yet!

The Spirit of We Award
As a proud Sponsor of We Day Manitoba since 2011, Canad Inns wishes to honour and support Manitoba youth who have embodied the “spirit of we” by giving back to their community following We Day Manitoba.
Nominations are now closed for the 2017 Spirit of We Awards.
Canad Inns would like to congratulate the 2017 Spirit of We Award winners:
Danielle Mason and Maples Aboriginal Student Leadership, the School Group Recipient of the 2017 Spirit of WE Awards.
Danielle Mason has been part of Maples Aboriginal Student Leadership since she was in grade 9. The group has taken part in traditional ceremonies and celebrations, conferences across Canada. They have made a very big impact on Maples Collegiate and their School Division. In the past they have worked with homeless shelters, recreation centres, food banks and other schools. They simply wanted to lend a hand. They have worked with Indigenous children and teach them to remember their roots and heritage. Danielle has worked with educators around the city to help make their classrooms more accessible for Indigenous children. Danielle has found her voice through Maples Aboriginal Student Leadership giving her the platform to talk about racism and discrimination and find the strength to speak out and help her community be more accepting of the Indigenous community. Danielle is donating her $ 1000 Spirit of WE Award to Drag The Red.
Palvi Saini, the Youth Recipient of the 2017 Spirit of WE Awards.
Palvi, who recently graduated from the Seven Oaks Met School has been very involved in the community. She has given back through volunteering at local organizations and by being a part of the social justice group at her school since grade 6. Palvi has led many campaigns, including raising funds for building a school in India to educating youth/spreading awareness on world issues. In her final year, she created a movement called #FearLessLoveMore to bring awareness to Islamophobia, to celebrate Winnipeg’s diverse community and to welcome the refugees. Palvi reached out to schools all over the city and conducted educational presentations for students ranging from middle schools all the way up to high school. She also organized a youth-led city-wide rally to raise awareness on Islamophobia and to show love to the Muslim community in our city. She made the entire city stand up and take notice by arranging 500 students from local schools to attend the rally. Palvi is already up to doing amazing things for the community through her various projects and her volunteer work at local organizations. She is an excellent example of a community leader who continues to make a change in people’s lives. Palvi started volunteering at NEEDS (Newcomers Employment Educational Development Services) and was inspired by her experiences working with the refugee children. Palvi is donating her $1000 Spirit of WE Award to NEEDS Centre.
With the help of our generous sponsors, we are very proud to bring you Manitoba’s largest Family Friendly Canada Day celebration for the 16th consecutive year!
