Canad Inns Community Support / DonationsAt Canad Inns we believe in giving back to the community, and participating in worthwhile initiatives that contribute to the quality of life in the communities we serve. Canad Inns has been, and continues to be, a community-minded corporation with a tradition of family involvement and a responsible corporate attitude. One of the fundamental operating principles key to the success of Canad Inns is a commitment to the community. Canad Inns has a strong sense of responsibility to each community it operates in. The Company’s community involvement is demonstrated at a local level, as well as in the municipal, provincial and national contexts. The individual Destination Centres are each firmly established as community enterprises, and offer support to a variety of local worthy causes. Canad Inns sponsors many events, charities and festivals in Manitoba. On July 1st, Canad Inns sponsors the Canada Day celebrations at Assiniboine Park. Canad Day Picnic in the Park is a family oriented day free to all who attend and is a great way to celebrate our nation’s birthday. Canad Inns organizes the daylong festivities, which include games and activities for children, entertainment and a spectacular fireworks display. Canad Inns Winter Wonderland, a Winnipeg family tradition, is a partnership with Red River Exhibition Park, offering our community a festive seasonal drive through light display each December and January. Proceeds are returned to the community through the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the Firefighters Burn Fund and Riverview Health Centre. Another successful partnership is with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Canad Inns is proud to hold the naming rights to Canad Inns Stadium, home field to this CFL franchise. The players also proudly wear the Canad Inns patch on their jerseys. Canad Inns manages and caters the Winnipeg Sun Centre, located at the stadium, offering the club access to Canad Inns’ hospitality expertise and allowing Canad Inns to offer this unique venue to our clients for events. Canad Inns continues to participate and sponsor many of the Blue Bomber events. In October 2007, Canad Inns presented Grey Cup championship rings to the members of the Winnipeg Blue Bomber teams who won the Grey Cup in 1958, 1959, 1961 and 1961. The players were honoured with a dinner at Canad Inns Destination Centre Polo Park called Ring In a Night of Nostalgia. Leo Ledohowski, President of Canad Inns, presented the first ring to Coach Bud Grant. In February 2007, Canad Inns announced a donation of $ 1 million dollars to the The Canadian Museum for Human Rights. This world-class museum will be the largest human rights centre in the world and showcase Canada’s contribution to human rights. Believing in both the cause and the economic and social benefits such a global museum will bring to Winnipeg, the 2,800 family members of Canad Inns proudly wear the SHINE pin and are committed to organizing events, raising money and advocating for this ground-breaking institution. Canad Inns continues to promote and bring awareness to the Holodomor, the genocide in Ukraine in 1932-1933. In 2008, Canad Inns produced a video documentary with stories from some survivors now living in Winnipeg. This video has been distributed to all high schools in Manitoba, along with schools and universities across Canada, the US, Europe, Australia and Ukraine. Canad Inns 2,800 family members give generously each year to the United Way and are supported in their efforts with a generous matching corporate donation through one of Canada’s oldest and most respected United Way campaigns. Canad Inns is also involved with Habitat for Humanity. For two years, our Canad Inns family members have helped to build homes. Canad Inns has become further involved by helping to raise funds and support this great initiative. In addition, each of our facilities is involved in and participates in many charities and organizations. Canad Inns encourages all of our family members to be involved in their local communities.
Canad Inns considers requests for support/sponsorship through a "Donations Committee" where requests are reviewed on a bi-monthly basis. All requests must be submitted in written form and include full details for recognition that will be provided should the request be accepted. Budget limitations preclude our participation in every program or request, and each request will be reviewed on its own merit. Requests should be provided well in advance of dates for events/projects , as a minimum of six weeks notice is required. Eat.
